Version 5.1.2 (Released August 25, 2010)

• A command to reset all program options to their default values was implemented.
• The function for automatic extraction of the icon of a associated web site was improved.

Version 5 (Released July 9, 2010)

• New Improved User Interface: An advanced user interface was implemented to give Password Depot a more modern look & feel and to simplify the use of the program.
• New Search Functionality: A new "Live Search" was implemented, which allows searching for strings everywhere and highlights all the found elements. Optionally, the search can be limited to specific elements like "Name", "Group", "Comments" etc.
• Internet Explorer Add-On: The program is now completely integrated with IE and simplifies the whole process of adding/updating web passwords as well as automatic web forms completion and submission.
• Mozilla Firefox Add-On: The program is now completely integrated with Mozilla products (Firefox, Thunderbird) and simplifies the whole process of adding/updating web passwords as well as automatic web forms completion and submission.
• New Clean-Up Function: The new clean-up function allows finding passwords that have not been used for a long time or have already expired. Thus, keeping the password files up-to-date is much easier.
• Improved Synchronization Function: The synchronization function now allows synchronizing two files in both directions, including the synchronization with remote files. The program checks if the user tries to synchronize two files which originate from the same file and allows updating all entries easily.
• Improved Beginner Mode: The Beginner Mode has been revised and is now easier to find and allows new users to familiarize with the program step by step.
• New Entry Types: Besides traditional passwords, new entry types were introduced. In the "New Password" dialog box you can now additionally manage credit card data, software licenses, personal identities, etc.
• Frequency of Use: see frequency of use for certain passwords at one glance
• New Favorites Panel: A new panel "Favorites" was added showing the passwords most frequently used. The Favorites be accessed from the top bar as drop-down list.
• Extended Top bar: Additional functions were added to the Top bar, so that most program functionalities can now be performed directly from there. The new "Customize Top bar" dialog box allows adding and re-arranging the most demanded commands.
• Customization of Virtual Keyboard: The Virtual Keyboard Window is now resizable. It is now also available as a stand-alone application.
• Global Custom Fields: Global custom fields can now be defined for frequently used information (like e-mail address, nick name, etc).
• Improved Password Generator: A new option was added allowing to select the characters that shall be used by the password generator. Optionally, the user can choose that all selected options have to be used for the generated password. In case a similar password already exists, the password generator suggests a new password of the same length automatically.
• Display of File Names: The general display of file names was revised, giving it a more customer-friendly look
• New Group Functions: Groups can now also be sorted in ascending and descending order 
• Highlighting of Attachments: Entries containing an attachment are now particularly characterized by a special icon (like attachments in Outlook).
• Improved Custom Icons: Icons are now stored inside password files to make the custom images synchronization easier. Web passwords can now automatically extract the standard icon (favicon.ico) from the password's URL
• Improved File Tools: The File Tools (Encrypt, Decrypt, and Erase) are now separated from the main program and can be installed optionally. The possibility to create a single encrypted archive from several source files was implemented. Support of self-extracting encrypted files was implemented, so that users are able to decrypt the file without Password Depot installed. Moreover, integration of the Windows Internet Explorer has been improved.  
• Warning for Expiring Passwords: An option was added allowing to set a time range for displaying a warning before a password actually expires.
• SFTP Support: Support for the SFTP protocol was implemented and established as default connection for secure transfer of password files via Internet.
• Global Hot Key: A global hot key for Windows was implemented (Ctrl+SHIFT+P) reactivating Password Depot when the program has been minimized or is in the system tray.
• Extended Import Functionality: Passwords can now additionally be imported from other Password Depot password files.
• Individual Group Names: The name of the paramount group is now named after the corresponding password list instead of having the default name "My Passwords"
• Custom Fields Visibility: Whether a custom field is shown in the top bar or popup menus, is now customizable, so that a user can decide which entries he wants to use from there.
• Counting Passwords: Improved functionality for counting your passwords, now displaying total amount of passwords in the password list and in the selected group.
• Show/Hide Groups: Contents of several groups can now be shown/hidden optionally with one mouse click only.
• Extended Auto-Complete Function: Additional elements were added to the auto-complete function, so that even very complex sites can be filled in with this function. In addition, the according dialog box is now customizable in size.
• Improved Backup Function: Backups of certain password lists can now be stored directly on FTP-Servers or removable discs. The interval between the creation of backup files can be defined individually.
• Improved Printing Functions: A preview in the printing dialog box now also shows whether a password contains attachments.
• The names of custom fields are now also stored in encrypted form

Version 4.1.7 (Released June 8, 2010)

• An error in reading the unlock information from USB devices was fixed.

• A number of other small errors and text issues were fixed.

What is new in version 3.2.0 (Released January 23, 2008)

• A new generator for the master password was implemented. It helps to create easy-to-remember, but yet difficult-to-crack passwords.
• Enhanced protection against brute-force attacks. The period of disabling an open password file dialog box increases with the number of wrong attempts.
• Enhanced security by automatic closing of the password file and locking of the program with the number of triggers – computer is idle for N minutes, current user changes, computer hibernates, etc.
• Improved backup passwords functionality. Automatic backup copies are only created if the current password file was changed since the last backup, the number of backup copies is now customizable.
• Fixed the problems with the Top bar buttons for copying to clipboard and Drag & Drop of user name and password for some mouse types.

• Improved file handling in Password Depot Server - now the program first prompts to download the most current file from the server rather than using a cached copy. The option to automatically delete the local copy of password file after disconnecting from the server has been added.
• The problem with missing Password Depot commands in the Windows Explorer context menu for some file types has been fixed.
• The issue of two clicks being required to switch to another window after starting the Top bar has been fixed.

• New password list authentication options – now you may encrypt your password lists not only with one master password but also using an external key file, either alone or in combination with a master password (the highest level of security).
• Enhanced anti-keylogger protection – all password fields have integrated protection against several types of key loggers.
• Enhanced clipboard protection – the program automatically detects any running clipboard viewers and masks (hides) changes it makes to the Clipboard; after auto-completion all sensitive data automatically removed from the Clipboard.
• Enhanced program protection – several new options are added to provide better protection of the program itself: when it goes into locked state all sensitive data are cleared from memory, the program can automatically minimize/lock when computer switches to Standby or Hibernate mode, when current session changes, etc.
• Virtual (On-Screen) Keyboard – The ultimate protection against key loggers, with this tool you may enter your master password or other sensitive data not touching the keyboard at all; Password Depot does not emulate keyboard events but uses internal message buffer so neither hardware nor software key loggers can read what you type.

• Numbered (Indexed) TANs support – more and more banks introduce numbered TANs, with Password Depot 3 you can use them in your Home Banking, too.
• New Thumbnails (Cards) View – displays all passwords and groups as small ‘cards’ with all relevant data providing excellent outlook of all passwords in the group.
• Themes support – with this new feature you can choose one of embedded themes (skins) of the program’s main window.
• Enhanced support of icons – own (custom) icons now can have not only groups but passwords, too; the program provides wide range of embedded ‘standard’ icons as well as an convenient interface to organize and load custom icons from various graphical file types (ICO, BMP, GIF and JPEG).
• Improved User Interface – number of other changes are made to provide better UI with modern look and feel.
• Password Policy – you may establish set of rules for all new or modified passwords to be accomplished (minimum password length, types of symbols to use, etc).
• Import Wizard – this tool simplifies importing passwords from external XML or CSV files and enables import from CSV files generated by other password managers via adjustable options (separator char quote char, etc).
• Improved Search function – the Search Password dialog box is redesigned to give more advanced options for searching passwords, for example, you may search for passwords using masks with wildcards, limit search by a specific group or modified time interval; the Top bar optionally can have Search combo with easy access to both advanced Search Passwords dialog box and simplified drop-down Quick Search.
• Categories Support - Passwords now may have a new field ‘Category’, which helps in better organization and searching for passwords.
• Several Auto-Complete methods – passwords may have one of 3 different methods of auto-completion – 2 clipboard-based and 1 keyboard emulated; although the first 2 methods are suitable for most of web forms and windows programs, the last one maybe irreplaceable for some input controls, which block using the Clipboard.
• Automatic notification of available updates (see Options -> General).
• New option for transferring configuration data to USB sticks (see Tools -> Installation Wizard).
• Automatic detection of the Maxthon web browser.

• Custom fields: Create as many fields as you like in the database. That way you can adjust Password Depot to your personal needs.
• Recognition of correct passwords: The program automatically recognizes the password that is used for a website and suggests it automatically!
