General Information

Have you ever surfed the net and come across sites that require a password in order to get access? Of course, it is not difficult to remember a password, especially when it is a simple word that you have chosen.

But what if someone else provides that password to you (a site or a Webmaster) and the password is a complicated code that has no meaning? And what if you need to remember not one, but more such passwords? Are you sure that you can remember exactly every password every time you need it?

If you experienced problems like these in the past, Password Depot is the right solution. Password Depot is a powerful and yet very easy-to-use password manager.

You can store thousands of passwords in encrypted "password lists". Password lists are very useful because you do not have to bother remembering all the passwords you are using and which password goes where. All that you have to remember is a List Access Key, which is the password that protects a password list.

Management

For each password you want to store, you will provide a description, some additional information, the internet address to which that password has access to, and of course, the password. With a simple mouse click, you can go directly to the Web address to which a certain password has access to. You can also copy a password, its user name or its URL to clipboard. Additionally, you can automatically complete a Web page with a password's information (user name and password). Password Depot allows you to store passwords in Groups, making the organization of your password lists more efficient.

You can also specify a description for each password list, in order to recognize the list later. The list description will be displayed each time you open the password list.

Security

Password Depot provides very high security standards. This program uses strong encryption algorithms (Blowfish and Rijndael) to encrypt your password lists. The advantage of these algorithms is that the List Access Key used for encrypting a password list, is not stored anywhere on your computer.

Therefore, nobody can find the List Access Key on your computer because you are the only one who knows it.

TIP: Deleting temporary files is also very important because they can contain data that could be extracted by someone. Deleting files from Windows Explorer is not secure, because only the file name will be deleted. To destroy a file beyond recovery you must overwrite the file before deleting it. Password Depot uses the DOD (5220.22-M compliant) shredder for this operation.

You can restrict other user's access to Password Depot using the Lock feature included in the program. This way you can safely leave Password Depot running on your computer without the risk of having someone else looking through your passwords.

With Password Depot you can also generate real-random passwords, using a specially designed password generator.

User Interface

Password Depot has a very friendly and easy-to-use interface. You can surf the password lists using an interface similar to Windows Explorer, which allows you to see the structure of a password list as a tree list. You can locate very quickly a password using the search window.

But maybe the most important thing about the interface is that Password Depot can also be displayed as a top bar. The Top bar window, is a small bar that is located on top of all other applications, giving you constant access to the passwords stored by Password Depot and making Web surfing much easier.
